What is Karaoke Sync?
Karaoke Sync is a free iPhone and Android app for timing song lyrics and singing along to them. You import a song, paste its lyrics, and tap as each line is sung. You can then practice, record yourself, or export the timed lyrics as LRC, Enhanced LRC, SRT, CSV or Smule-format files.
How do I make karaoke lyrics for a song?
Import an audio file, a video, or a YouTube link. Paste the lyrics, one line per line. Open Timing, tap Start Timing, and tap the button each time a new line begins. Save, then fine-tune any line in 0.1-second steps. Step by step: How to sync lyrics to a song.
What formats can I export?
Timed lyrics export as LRC, Enhanced LRC (word by word), SRT, CSV, and Smule format. The Smule export is lyrics wrapped to fit Smule's lyrics editor, with timestamps as a guide; timing is set again in Smule. Recordings export as audio (an M4A mix of your voice and the music, or your voice on its own) and as MP4 video, with the option to show your lyrics on the video.
What can I import?
Audio files (MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, AAC), videos from your device (MP4, MOV, M4V), or a YouTube link. If you already have timed LRC lyrics, paste them and the timing is imported automatically.
Does it work with YouTube videos?
Yes. Paste a YouTube link and you can time lyrics, practice and record over the video. The video is streamed, and its sound is never captured, so recordings from a YouTube project contain only your voice (and your camera, for a video take).
Does Karaoke Sync remove vocals from a song?
No. Karaoke Sync plays your song as it is and adds timed, highlighted lyrics. For an instrumental backing, import an instrumental version of the song. In the Karaoke tab, many catalog songs also come in a karaoke (instrumental) version.
Is Karaoke Sync free?
Yes. The free version includes up to 10 projects, all export formats, and 10 exports without ads; after that, each export takes a short ad or 25 tokens earned in the app. The free version shows ads. Pro costs $0.99 a month or $5.99 a year in the US and removes the ads and the project and export limits.
Where are my songs and recordings stored?
On your device. Your projects, imported songs and videos, and recordings are stored on your phone, and Karaoke Sync never uploads them. There is no sign-in account. The app goes online only for features that need the internet, such as YouTube videos, the Karaoke and Quiz catalogs, ads, and usage and crash statistics. See the Karaoke Sync app privacy policy.
Does Karaoke Sync provide the lyrics?
For your own projects, you paste the lyrics yourself; the Find Lyrics buttons open lyrics websites (LRCLib, Lyricsify and Genius) where you can copy them. The Karaoke tab is separate: it is a catalog of songs that already have synced lyrics.
I bought Pro on my iPhone — can I use it on my Android phone (or the other way around)?
Not directly. The iPhone app and the Android app are sold through two separate stores — Apple's App Store and Google Play — and each store handles its own billing. The two stores don't share purchase information, so a Pro subscription bought on one platform can't be detected, restored, or transferred to the other. Karaoke Sync doesn't use a sign-in account, so your Pro access is tied to the store you purchased through. Your subscription stays active on the device where you bought it. If you'd like Pro on a device that uses the other store, you'd start a subscription within that device's app. This is how Apple's and Google's billing systems work for most apps that don't have their own login accounts — it isn't specific to Karaoke Sync.
I'm switching from iPhone to Android (or Android to iPhone). How do I keep Pro?
Your current subscription keeps working on your original phone for as long as it's active. On your new phone, Pro is a separate purchase through that phone's app store. If you no longer want the original subscription, cancel it so you aren't billed on both:
- Cancel an Apple (iPhone) subscription: on the iPhone, open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, choose Karaoke Sync, and cancel.
- Cancel a Google Play (Android) subscription: open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, choose Karaoke Sync, and cancel.
I tapped "Restore Purchases" and it didn't find my subscription. Why?
"Restore Purchases" only looks up purchases made through the store you're currently on, using that device's store account — Google Play on Android, the App Store on iPhone. If you bought Pro on a different platform, Restore won't find it, because that purchase lives in the other store. Restore is for getting your subscription back on the same platform after reinstalling the app or moving to a new device that uses the same store account.
